Don’t Let It Fade Away
March 31st, 2008Don’t Let It Fade Away
Wandering Down Abbey Road
When I look around, I see so many lonely people. Where do they all come from?
How many of them had someone to love, but threw it all away looking for something better? How many of them put more thought into impressing their friends or neighbors than they put into romantic ideas for the one who loved them? How many just didn’t even try?
When I look at the beautiful woman sitting across from me, I still see the girl that I fell in love with many years ago. Life and relationships are not always easy, and there have been many ups and downs, but I can’t imagine my life without her.
If your path has already separated you from your love, call them, or write to them. It’s not too late to express your true feelings to them. There’s a very good chance that they miss you as much as you miss them.
Life is too short to live it alone.
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely peopleEleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near.
Look at him working. Darning his socks in the night when there’s nobody there
What does he care? All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely peopleEleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was savedAll the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
WordPress 2.5 Update
March 31st, 2008WordPress 2.5 Update
A Little Speedbump
The upgrade to WordPress 2.5 wasn’t quite as painless as it originally appeared. Late last night I realized that the comment moderation page in the admin dashboard was not working. It would say “4 new comments”, but would display them.
After troubleshooing this for a couple hours last night, and then several more today, I found that the comment_date_gmt column in the wp_comments MySQL database table was missing the index. Once I added an index (drop and create) to that column, everything was fine.
So, I’m back to lovin’ WordPress 2.5. Once again, it’s all good.
My Favorite Room
March 30th, 2008My Favorite Room
It Would Be Difficult To Leave
As I mentioned in a separate post from this morning, I have been looking at a selection of real estate properties online. Based upon photos from several of those homes, I now realize that my next home absolutely must have a glass conservatory. The more I think about this, the more I love the idea.
Tanglewood Conservatories in Denton, Maryland, a company known for their incredible creations of nineteenth-century glass architecture, have designed some of the most beautiful conservatories I have ever seen. Tanglewood Conservatories have also recently introduced a new line of Upscale Botanical and Palm Houses (see press release below).
You’ll find a small portfolio of Tanglewood’s design styles and completed construction projects on their website. It’s very easy to see from the photos that all of these structures are magnificent creations. Each of the conservatories and palm houses represented here are breathtakingly beautiful and unique.
I feel only two regrets while browsing their online portfolio…
The first regret is that I am not able to visit each of these in person, because I’m certain the photos don’t do justice to the attention to detail which Tanglewood is famous for. The second regret is that I don’t already have one.
Press Release:
Denton, Md. —Tanglewood Conservatories Inc., already well known for its tantalizingly rich creations of nineteenth-century glass architecture, announces the introduction of its new line of upscale botanical and palm houses. Alan Stein, president and co-founder of Tanglewood remarks that “These structures are clearly intended to be a direct throwback to the exotic steel and glass botanical buildings that became so popular during the late nineteenth-century”.
Targeted at the top end of the market, these custom-designed wood, glass and steel structures can serve as fully functional greenhouses, botanical display houses or exotic sunroom additions for Tanglewood’s discerning clientele.
“I don’t know that these sort of structures have been built anywhere in the world for over a hundred years”, Stein remarked. Originally made possible by technological advances in steel and glass production that came out of the Industrial Revolution, conservatories began to fall out of favor in the twentieth-century due in large part to the tremendous expense of maintaining them.
In recent years however, conservatories, sunrooms and greenhouses have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity, particularly as upscale home additions, since such materials as insulated glass have made them much more practical.
However, a typical modern conservatory is mainly a stylized architectural “interpretation” of its antecedents, the degree of direct relation depending upon the skill of the designer and the level of commitment to its authenticity by the manufacturer. In contrast, the new series of Tanglewood’s creations are far closer to the originals than has been possible to find until now.
“We have literally revived building techniques that haven’t been used since the original great glass conservatories were constructed”, says Stein. “For example, a recent project was designed using hundreds of small panes of overlapping glass on its roof to form the curvature of a large dome.” “The shingle-like pieces of glass were each hand cut to fit the intricate framework”.
Other features that are often incorporated into these conservatories include exposed cast iron, decorative steel structural frames and intricately patterned stained glass.
The cost of this innovation is not insignificant. With a typical palm house conservatory ranging from several hundred thousand dollars to well over several million, these monumental glass artifacts are clearly not for everyone.
Why Your Blog Will Fail

Downloadable?
I’ve recieved email from two visitors asking if there was a way they could download all five parts of the “Why Your Blog Will Fail” series for offline viewing.
I hadn’t really thought about doing that previously, but I will combine the parts and make it available as a single file for anyone that wants it.
There will be an updated post here when it’s ready.
Great Mortgage Rates
March 30th, 2008Great Mortgage Rates
Not Exclusive To North America!
While evaluating a job offer for a position in Bristol, England, I have been comparing Mortgages and the real estate market via the web.
Ironically, I had never considered that the U.K., or other countries, would have mortgage comparison websites like we do here in the United States. Now that I’ve had a need to look into it further, it makes perfect sense though. From what I have found in my research so far, the mortgage industry in all of the world’s leading economies is just as competitive as the U.S. lending industry.
This does also appear to be a great time to seek a mortgage for property in England as well. With interest rate cuts recently, both in December 2007 and February 2008, mortgages are very attractive and affordable. There have also been hints from the Bank of England governor that interest rates will be cut again in the near future, quite possibly before my upcoming business travel to Bristol.
It’s a great time to be shopping for a new mortgage, or even refinancing an existing one.

Version 2.5
Blog About Nothing has been upgraded to WordPress v2.5 and so far, everything is great.
Version 2.5 was released yesterday and I upgraded this blog, as well as several others, shortly after the new version was released. No problems with the upgrade, and there are some cool new admin features.
If you’re running WordPress, you should take a look at this upgrade.
More Savings

Another Great Coupon Website
Just recently I reminded everyone of the huge savings you can enjoy by using online free coupons and discount codes when shopping online. Buywithcoupons.com is a new website, but already has a really great collection of coupon codes.
Before you make any purchase online, always check for relevant coupon codes. In fact, before making any purchase from your local brick and mortar stores, check online first. Many times you’ll find the same product online at a lower price, and if you can locate a coupon code for that retailer, product, or service, it will definitely be worth the small amount of effort.
Best of all, you can do all of this without burning a drop of gasoline, which in itself will save you money.
UGA Cheerleader Update
March 29th, 2008UGA Cheerleader Update
Good News!
All of us UGA Bulldog fans, along with the rest of Christine Conley’s friends, family, and classmates had a bit of a scare last week during the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. During one of her routines, Christine appeared to fall from the arms of a male cheerleader and hit her head on the court.
The game between Georgia and the University of Iowa was stopped while medical personal attended to Christine, after which she was transported to the hospital was taken to the hospital.
The great news is that despite a “mild to moderate concussion”, Christine will be perfectly fine and has been released from the hospital.
We wish you all the best Christine!

Miss Conley was named Sports Illustrated’s cheerleader of the week in October 2006.
Who Controls Your Future?
March 29th, 2008Who Controls Your Future?
You.
Practically every single day for the past several weeks many of the major news and newspaper websites in the United States have published sob stories about one person or another who have lost their job “due to the economy”. This usually leads into how they have lost, or are about to lose, their home, “due to the economy”, or “due to the mortgage crisis”.
It’s not hard to see when it’s an election year…
What most of the major media outlets choose not to focus on is that this is America, the land of opportunity. And historically, what do Americans do when presented with adversity? We accept that challenge head on and take control of it.
Time and time again, slowdowns in the U.S. economy have been followed by some of the longest periods of economic expansion. It is during these slowdowns where more entrepreneurs decide to take their fate into their own hands rather than leave their financial destiny to be determined by someone else.
This is the time to follow those dreams of owning your own business. If you haven’t saved up enough capital investment to get started, get a Business Loan and take control of your own future. Research your options at EZUnsecured.com and you’ll see how easy it can be to obtain fast funding to start your new business. This might even be the time to expand your existing business. You’ll receive excellent service from the experts at EZUnsecured.com, just as so many others already have.
So, you can go back to reading about how bad we all have it here in the United States, or you can do something about it. Are you going to be a leader, or a follower?
Sharp Dressed Man

Because Every Girl Is Crazy About One
I’ve set a new record. Today it only took 90 minutes to find my cuff links.
My choice of men’s jewelry is a bit unique. I mean, outside of my wedding band, I have a really cool guitar ring, and a skull ring. But, once a year, I head out on a business trip where suits and ties are mandatory. And, once a year, I spend way too much time trying to hunt down cuff links.
Maybe this year, when I return home, I’ll put them right where they belong so that I can easily find them next year.
No, actually, I probably wont…
