Obamanation

Two Steps Back

On rare occasions, someone will summarize my thoughts even better than I can myself. Certain things that I may be thinking, but haven’t yet found the right words to express them verbally.

Today I’ll give that virtual podium to Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corp., regarding the fear that many of us have about Senator Obama’s economic platform.

In an interview on Friday, Mr Murdoch said:

“I am very worried. “I like Sen. Obama very much. I have met him. He is a very intelligent man. But his policy of anti-globalization, protectionism, is going to be — and card checks — are going to do two or three things. It’s going to give us a lot of inflation. They’re going to ruin our relationships with the rest of the world. And they are going to slow down the rest of the world, too. And they’re going to make people frightened to add to employment. You are going to find companies leaving this country if it’s — if you put a protectionist wall around it. You’re going to get — his policy is really very, very naive, old-fashioned, 1960s.”

Not a good sign in the global economy of the 21st century.

I sure hope people learn to see beyond the “change” rhetroic before November.

More Support

It’s A Growing Trend

The Associated Press reports this morning that a top fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, is now supporting Senator John McCain for president.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild has said she thinks Democratic nominee Barack Obama is arrogant and has a problem connecting with average Americans.

Rothschild is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York. She was one of Clinton’s top fundraisers, bringing in more than $100,000 for her presidential campaign. She built a multimillion-dollar telecommunications company before marrying international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild.

Rothschild plans to announce her support for McCain on today in Washington D.C.

Run Obama Run

Then, Just Keep On Going

I love how Sarah Palin has got Obama on the run…

Just reading this morning about his claim to have more experience than Governor Palin. I find it laughable that he’s now campaigning against a candidate for Vice President rather than Senator McCain.

Maybe Obama has finally realized that his “experience” as a first-term Senator doesn’t quite stack up to John McCain’s 26+ years of experience in the Senate. And that his role as “community organizer” isn’t quite the same as the military heroism that defines his opponent. McCain has executive experience as a U.S. Navy squadron commander. Obama has no executive experience in anything.

So, the young Sarah Palin seemed like an easy target since he clearly can’t equal McCain’s qualifications.

Yet, Obama still fails, even when compared to the young Governor.

Senate experience alone does not demonstrate Presidential qualifications. The office of the President is an executive role – a position that requires quick and decisive decision making, not days and weeks of deliberation in committee, such as in the Senate.

John McCain is a decisive decision maker and leader, as is documented in his exemplary military service.

And, Sarah?

Governor Palin also holds an executive position. She governs the 7th largest economy in the United States with a budget exceeding 9 billion dollars. She is the executive presiding over a state government which employs over 25,000 people.

State governments are a microcosm of the Federal Government. Every department within the Federal Government also exists within the State Government.

I don’t think it’s very smart of Obama to begin comparing himself to the Vice Presidential candidate, unless of course, he’s running for VP himself – but especially because he can’t even win that debate.

On the other hand, he can’t really call Senator McCain a “Washington insider” in a negative manor, considering VP candidate Biden has been in the Senate longer himself. He can’t even back up the McCain = Bush argument, since McCain opposed Bush policies about 80% of the time.

Is Sarah Palin qualified to be President today? In my opinion, no – not yet. I consider her to be a bit more qualified than Obama, but not significantly so.

However, Obama is not running against Governor Palin. He’s running against John McCain. And Senator McCain, my friends, is infinitely more qualified to lead this country than Senator Obama.

Vote For Sarah

Vote For Sarah

I Mean, McCain

Senator John McCain has just brought my vote back to the Republican Party. Sorry Mr. Barr, but McCain’s selection of 44 year-old Alaskan Governor Sarah Heath Palin for Vice President trumps my otherwise Libertarian views.

Put me down as a definite McCain-Palin voter in 2008.

Well, this isn’t exactly true. I am voting for Sarah Palin – she just happens to be on the McCain ticket. Considering Senator McCain’s age, there’s a good chance that he might be a one-term president, placing (the hopeful) Vice President Palin at the top of the heap in 2012.

Why my love for Sarah?

OK, let’s get this out of the way, because you know damned well I’m thinking it… Sarah Palin is, in my humble opinion, smoking hot. This GILF (the “G” is for Governor – you figure out the rest) could charm the most evil communist dictators into submission with her smile.

She is the youngest governor of Alaska, ever. She is the first female governor of Alaska, ever.

She is a former Miss Alaska runner-up.

She isn’t afraid of going against the flow, even within her own party. Sarah first gained statewide attention because of her whistleblowing on ethical violations by Alaska state Republican Party leaders. Clearly, she has an honest heart and doesn’t just follow the Party line.

Sarah defeated the incumbent governor in the Republican primary, and then went on to win the general election.

As governor, Palin has maintained an approval rating in the 80s and 90s through 2007 and 2008. That’s not a type… 80%-90% approval rating. This is almost unheard of.

I’ve studied her energy policies and stand on social issues, and I’m on board with her in both arenas.

By choosing Sarah, John McCain has made a wise decision. She will be an asset to his administration, as well as the GOP in general.

I have no doubt that, given the chance, she could bring respect and dignity back to the Republican Party. Something that has been erased over the past 8 years or so.

Oh, and did I mention that she’s totally hot?

Remember, a vote for McCain in 2008 is likely to lead to:

Sarah 2012 - Palin For President

Angie Update

Wheels Of Justice

Angie Garbarino’s attorney has sent the city of Shreveport a settlement figure and a suggestion that a mediator be called in to hear the case.

Angie’s attorney, Gary Bowers, has not disclosed the monetary settlement he suggested. This is normal, however, so our curiosity will just remain unanswered. Hopefully his suggested settlement number in on the upper end of the scale.

The attorney hired by the city has confirmed receipt of this information, but has declined any further comment.

More to come…

Alone

No Surprises

So, where is the news about all of the countries rushing to aid the flood victims in the midwest United States?

Hey, Kuwait, remember that whole “saved your ass from Iraqi invasion” thing?

Hey, Iraq, you know that whole “liberate you from Saddam” thing?

Um, Israel, who’s been protecting your asses from the entire Middle East for the past 50 years?

Oh, nevermind… I’m sure the checks are in the mail.

Angie’s Ambulance

Why So Secretive?

A small amount of news in the Angie Garbarino police brutality case…

Angie’s attorney, Gary Bowers, has filed a lawsuit against the city of Shreveport, asking a judge to order the city to turn over ambulance reports from the night of her beating at the hands of Shreveport police officer Wiley Willis.

Mr. Bowers has made seven requests for the medical records since February 2008. While the company that handles the city’s Emergency Medical Service records has cashed the checks for the copies, nothing has been turned over to the attorney.

Man, if I didn’t know better I’d almost be convinced that Shreveport is a corrupt city and there will be more cover-up in this case than Amy Winehouse would need to make her face presentable to the public.

Blog About Nothing will continue to follow this case and present the most biased and one-sided perspective you’ll find anywhere. Well, except for what’s in ex-officer Willis’ report that is.

Mama Obama

Mama Obama

Black and White

While I personally could not care less about the race, or gender, of a presidential candidate - call me crazy, I’d prefer to cast my vote based upon the issues - it’s very clear that many Americans do care about race. Specifically, the race of Senator Obama.

I don’t recall ever hearing about McCain of Clinton being “white”, nor was there ever any suggestion that either of them should recieve votes because they are.

But, hardly an article is published, nor a news report spoken, without mention of the fact that Senator Obama is an “African American”.

A very large number of African American’s are so proud to have a “black candidate”. I guess, if I understand correctly, because he will “feel their pain” - you know, like Bill Clinton, our previous black president. We hear about what a great accomplishment it is that a black man will have the Democratic nomination.

Mama Obama

The problem with this “race card” is that Mama Obama is as white as Hillary Clinton or John McCain. In fact, being from Witchita, Kansas, it could be argued that she’s even whiter. You can’t really get more white than the midwest, can you?

Senator Obama is as white as he is black.

It could be argued that this is a good thing… He should be equally compassionate to both blacks and whites. I’m not sure that I believe that, but it would be a valid argument.

The fact of the matter is, Obama’s father left the family (typical?) to study at Harvard when Barack was just two. The last time he saw his father was at the age of 10.

Being raised by his white mother - wouldn’t that make him even more “white”?

So, why do Time, Newsweek, CNN, and all of the Obama supporters insist upon portraying him as “black”, or as an “African American”?

Why is it if you challenge Obama’s position, you’re labeled as “racist” by his supporters? Are you racist against his black or white genes?

And, if you are a supporter of the Senator, don’t assume that “anti-Obama” Americans have chosen that position based upon his race. I am one of that group, and race has absolutely nothing to do with it (Condoleezza Rice was my first choice for president).

If you subscribe to Senator Obama’s socialistic views, follow your heart and vote for him, whether you’re black, white, or other.

On the other hand, if you are a more sensible person, vote for someone else - and keep race out of the equation.

Hillary Is Losing It

Hillary Is Losing It

I’m Not Talking About The Election

It finally happened… Hillary is losing it.

No, OK, I know – she lost it long ago. But, now it’s coming to the surface.

When asked today by South Dakota newspaper the Argus Leader why she didn’t buy the argument that the party was fracturing because of the prolonged contest, she said “my husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June.”

“We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California,” she continued. “You know I just dont understand it.”

Wait… What?

Is this really anything new though?

A couple of weeks ago Clinton has made a similar “long primaries are fine” comment, which also made a reference to the Kennedy assassination. “If you look at successful presidential campaigns, my husband didn’t get the nomination until June of 1992. I remember, tragically, Senator Kennedy won California near the end of that process. It has often gone on. And we have a lot to work out here. Because we have to figure out who would be the stronger candidate.”

Um… Okaaaaaaaayyyyy…

Stimulating Packages

Stimulating Packages

The Downward Spiral

So, the economic stimulus tax rebates are on their way. Make sure you fasten your seat belts because the economy is suddenly going to take off like a rocket!

Yeah, right…

Most people will use this “rebate” to pay bills. Others might save it. And I’m sure a very large portion of it will end up in the hands of the oil companies.

And those who decide to go ahead and spend this money - what do you think they’ll be buying?

Chances are it will be a Japanese televison or video game system. Maybe a Japanese camera, or a Chinese-made iPod.

Excuse me, this is going to help the economy how?

I’m not hurting for money, and don’t really need this rebate. Maybe I’ll donate mine to the Get The Fuck Out Of Iraq Fund. In my opinion, there’s no better way to help the American economy right now.

As of this writing, the war in Iraq has cost American taxpayers $514,286,975,551. This increases by approximately $341,000,000 per day.

I’m not “anti-war”. I’m not even “anti-Iraqi-war”. But the time has come where the cost in human lives and American dollars is far greater than the return on investment.
