Follow The Leader

Not Hard To Spot

Our nation is in the midst of a financial crisis.

Make no mistake about it, the current state of the financial market is closer to collapse than it has been at any time over the past 75 years.

At the time of a national - or in this case international - crisis, you’ll see the true character of people.

There are the Leaders, which head directly to the heart of the crisis, and put every effort into working toward a solution that will resolve the crisis. These are the “take charge” people. While not everyone will agree with their solution to any certain crisis, and while their actions may not always work, at least they are decisive and leading.

The others, of course, are the Followers. Followers have their place, and are just as important as Leaders, in their own way.

A General can create the most masterful plan for a battle, but without the troops, he won’t win.

The job of the President of the United States, however, requires a leader. Not someone that will follow polls, public opinion, or panels of advisers. No, it requires someone who will head straight for the center of the battle, or crisis, and lead… decisively.

Senator McCain has already suspended his campaign to fight this financial crisis in Washington, D.C. - and he is the one person who will be able to bring the two sides together - or close enough to make each side equally unhappy - so that an agreement can be made and the country can move forward.

Senator Obama has already declared his position as a follower, but has made himself “available” to the people of the country, by advising his counterparts in Washington to “call me if you need me”, while he continues to pursue his own self-interests while focusing on his campaign.

I don’t want a person “leading” our country who will be “available if we need them”. I want a person leading the country who will have already taken charge of things that I’d rather not have to lose sleep over.

We all talking about the potential collapse of our nation as we know it. Anyone who doesn’t see the depth of the financial crisis that we’re in, anyone who doesn’t see clearly how this is going to affect them, their children, and grandchildren, needs to revisit economics 101.

The actions of the two candidates over the past couple of days only solidifies my support of Senator McCain, the only choice if you want a true Leader leading our nation.

Issues 2008 - Part IV

Restoring National Defense

For far too long and at the cost of American blood and treasure, our great military has been too willingly and quickly used for purposes other than national defense. Our fighting men and women deserve better and the integrity of our nation must be restored.

Our National Defense policy must renew a commitment to non-intervention. We are not the world’s police force and our long, yet recently tarnished, tradition of respecting the sovereignty of other nations is necessary, not from only a moral standpoint, but to regain the respect of the world as a principled and peaceful nation.

The proper use of force is clear. If attacked, the aggressor will experience firsthand the skillful wrath of the American fighting man. However, invading or initiating force against another nation based upon perceived threats and speculative intelligence is simply un-American. We are better than the policy of pre-emptive warfare.

It’s About Time

It’s About Time

Wish I Had One Of These

One of the many bad things about your children growing up is that you miss out on all of the really cool toys and kid gadgets that they’re now too old for. At least until the grandchildren arrive and you again have an excuse to buy these things.
Clock
One example is the cool new Teach Me Time Clock available at CoolStuffExpress.com. This talking alarm clock is an awesome educational kids clock, which helps them learn to tell time and provides visual as well as audio feedback.

My favorite feature - when the clock is green, it’s OK to get out of bed.

That alone would have saved many of those 6:00 AM Saturday wakeup visits from our kids back when they were younger.

Heck, this clock almost makes me want to talk to my wife about having another child…

Stupid Dog

Stupid Dog

Why Me?

Why do I always end up with the retarded animals (no offense to the retarded people I know)?

All of the other people in my neighborhood have these normal, well-behaved canines that they can walk around with, and still keep their dignity.

Me… I have a jackass.

Her latest thing is that she’s terrified of bicycles. Well, there is a bit of a history with that one that I’d rather not get into right now, as it did involve me on a mountain bike, the dog on a leash, and about two weeks of recovery. But, I digress…

This is an 80 pound dog we’re talking about, not some little muffin, rat-dog.

Yesterday when I tried walking between two parked bicycles with her she panicked and started trying to run away. Being leashed, she didn’t have far to go, but was about to tip one of the bikes over, pulling me over the top of it.

We had to move the bikes onto the lawn before she would proceed up the sidewalk.

New York City

An Excellent Destination

As Americans plan for their summer vacations this year, it appears that New York City travel is topping the list for domestic destinations.

This makes sense to me. I’ve been to New York City many times, in summer, fall, and winter. Summer and winter are my favorites for visits to NYC, and there are endless possibilities for things to do.

And there’s no question that it’s a far more desirable destination than Orlando and some of the other tourist traps.

Go Hawks!

Go Hawks!

Crunch Time

OK guys, the pressure is on. Lose tonight and the Cinderella story is over. The underdogs will have no choice but to go home with their tails between their legs.
A-Town Hottie
You’ve beat the Celtics twice during this series here in Atlanta, it’s time to do it again.

I am not ready to call the season over yet. I am not ready to say goodbye to the A-Town Dancers!

I understand that you’re tired. I understand that the Boston Celtics are a better team. However, that’s no reason not to win!

The Hawks were clearly the dominant force in games three and four. It can be done.

Go out there tonight and hand the Celtics an embarassing defeat. Push this to game seven and you’ll have earned the respect of fans across the country. Everyone expected us to lose this series in four games. You’ve already proven them wrong on that count, keep going!
A-Town Hottie

How many times do I have to say it? Don’t just play for the money. Don’t just play for the sake of playing. Play to win!

Back in childhood when you were told “Oh, winning isn’t everything. It’s how you played the game that counts.” - well, that’s bullshit.

It has nothing to do with “how you play the game”. You either win, or you’re a loser. And second place is just the first loser.

What’s that?

You say it looks like I’m trying to stretch this post out simply for the sake of posting more photos of Atlanta’s smokin’ hot A-Town Dancers?

Would I do that???

I mean, seriously… Do you think I’d just post a bunch of words here in this entry on Blog About Nothing, for not other reason than to make the post long enough to include extra photos of Atlanta’s finest hotties?

That’s practically insulting!

What kind of person would intentially pad a post with excessive words just so they could include the most sensual and beautiful girls in American professional basketball?

A-Town HottieBut, OK… Let’s just say for the sake of arguement that you are correct.

And, for the record, I am not saying that you are correct - just sayin’… Let’s maybe pretend that you are.

Just for a moment anyhow.

So, in this little fictional scenario that you’ve clearly just imagined, I am posting an extra long entry to ensure the inclusion of three photos of Atlanta’s finest…

Is that so wrong?

Is it wrong to admire and worship God’s greatest gift to the universe - women?

If anything, you should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking that its possible to “over expose” these incredible goddesses.

Whoa… Looks like I’m down below the third photo now. Time to wrap it up. But, that still doesn’t mean you were right.

And to the Atlanta Hawks… Do not allow the season to end for these girls! Um… I mean for yourselves!

See ya tonight.

See The World

See The World

Explore!

Rumor has it that a lot of those “economic stimulus” tax rebate checks are going to be used for travel this summer. That’s actually pretty good news, since travel affects so many segments of the economy.

I’ll actually be travelling more this summer than I have in the past three years combined. Between two planned family vacations and several business trips, I’ll be gone more than I’ll be home.

All of my travel with be via air (who can afford to drive anywhere?), and I’ll rent a car at each of my destinations so I can do as much exploring as possible. Usually the only time I don’t use a car rental is when I’m traveling to some of the largest and most congested cities – in which case cabs are easier. Travel this summer will be to smaller cities, with Las Vegas being the largest.

Speaking of car rentals, I always check to see if Advantage Rent A Car has an office in the city I’m travelling to before I go. Previous rentals with them have gone very smoothly and have been very affordable.

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

Food Network Is Making Me Fat

I’m convinced that Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is directly responsible for about 15 pounds of my extra weight.

You know the show… The one staring Guy Fieri - where he drives around the country and visits, well, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. During each visit we get to witness 15-inch chilidogs, 5-pound cheeseburgers, eggs fried every way imaginable, and practically anything and everything that can be smothered with melted cheese, and/or deep fried.

Man, I love this show.

The problem is, it’s usually on TV around midnight when I catch it. And that’s also around the time I start getting hungry. Being a little bit hungry while watching this show is very dangerous.

Usually by the first commercial break I’m in the kitchen, trying to dig up something fattening. Sadly, I usually find something to satisfy my appetite, at the expense of my weight.

But I never find anything that looks quite as good as what I’m seeing at the diners.

One thing is for sure, Guy Fieri has the most excellent job in the world.
