Hope He’s A Good Tipper
According to Barack Obama, our country is in the middle of “the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression”.
That being the case, could the $170,000,000 being spent on his inauguration have been put to better use?
Mr. Obama is embarking upon the greatest opportunity known to man – holding the most powerful position in the world. He was elected by the people, and as such deserves some rightful celebration.
But, $170,000,000 – some of which has been financed by bailed-out Wall Street executives???
The actual swearing-inceremony will only cast taxpayers about $1.24 million. The remaining $168,000,000 covers the parties, Port-a-Potties, parade, concerts, etc.
Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland have also requested another $75,000,000 from the federal government to help pay for their share of police, fire, and medical services.
Once again we’re seeing that “change” is just more of the same. Spend the money of others and have a great time!
Soon the Obama honeymoon will be over, and Americans will discover that he’s not going to put gasoline in their tanks, pay their mortgages, or lower their net taxes.
But, until then, enjoy the party.
For the record, George W. Bush was given a hard time for the $42.3 million cost of his inauguration celebrations.
