Expiring Domain Names

Hidden Gems

I’ve mentioned previously that I’m a bit of a collector of domain names. Actually, that’s a bit of an understatement. When I think of a cool domain name, or one that might have business potential, I register it.

Over the years I’ve had pretty good luck registering these names as I think of them. By that, I mean the names have been available and were not already registered. But, my luck was not perfect…

On quite a few occasions the domain name I wanted was already registered. Sometimes the registered name was about to expire, at which time it would be available to the world. In fact, there are domains expiring every day – thousands of domains. Some of those domain names are highly desirable.

Network Solutions has a very cool new tool that is a tremendous help for keeping an eye on soon-to-be available domains – the Network Solutions Expire Domain Name RSS feed. This domain name RSS Feed will deliver an up-to-date list of expiring domain names at regular intervals, providing you with a much better opportunity to claim the most desirable domain names for your very own.

It’s very easy to set up the RSS feed on the Network Solutions website. You begin setting up your new RSS feed by simply entering one or more keywords relevant to the desired domain name or names. Then select a few additional options (such as “Contain this keyword”, “Begin with this keyword”, etc.), and desired extensions, and maximum length.

Add this feed to your favorite RSS reader application and you’re done.

Now, the only problem will be deciding which domains you need – or in my case, want.
