Anarchy Rules!
September 27th, 2007While I have become pretty convinced in my life that there is no God, with this news I am convinced that there are higher powers of some type out there:
The Sex Pistols Are Back In The Studio!
I’m not sure of the actual chronology of events, but rumor has it they have re-recorded Anarchy In The U.K., which will be included in the soon-to-be-released Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock video game. Pistols guitarist Steve Jones has been quoted saying the new version “turned out great”.
More importantly, the inclusion of Anarchy in Guitar Hero III will expose millions of ‘video game guitarists’ of a young generation to one of the most influential bands ever… A band that many of them would likely have never been exposed to otherwise. And believe me, if there’s one thing the ‘kids’ need it’s some culture and diversity in the ‘music’ they listen to - and I use the term ‘music’ very loosely in this case. Can anyone to name a single band from this century with the artistic talent of the Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin, The Clash or The Beatles? A band that people will still be talking about 40 years from now? I’m waiting…
The Sex Pistols will be performing a few live shows as well, unfortunately all in the U.K., but let’s hope there will at least be a new live CD realeased.

It is very hard for me to believe that an individual wouldn’t believe God is there. Just look at the beauty that surrounds all of us. Beauty; if not found in the land of this country, can be as simple as one individual. If not found in his outer shell, his interior. All you really have to do is open your eyes. To believe this beauty which surrounds us was created simply by a blast, I feel would be an arrogant assumption and hold no relevance, for I have no patience with arrogant people. Please do not think I am in any way calling you arrogant. This is simply my opinion for what it’s worth.

Your opposing opinion is more than welcome here Sharon… You know that.
There will be a post in the near future about this very topic and I will address some of the points you bring up - I look forward to your opposing view.
And, you’re NOT calling me arrogant? Oh, you will…

That is really exciting! you are right…I cant seem to think of a recent band that is as iconic as the above listed. I may just be prejudice…the beatles being the loves of my life (in a perfect world I would have mothered Paul McCartney’s illigitimate children…but I digress)I also happen to absofriggenlutly adore zeppelin, the clash and the sex pistols. goodtunes and goodtimes. I think its so improtant for kids to discover “real music” because there is just something so amazing and so pleasing about finding that one band or musician that notonly makes great music, but doesnt fit into a predefined mold, and can take you so many dif. places. I remember being 3 and finding sgt. pepper in my moms closet. the album cover was so pretty i asked her about it. she taught me their names and played lucy in the sky with diamonds for me, and i immediatly got this image in my head one that i still get to this day when i listen to it. from then on i was hooked on the beatles and on music. I am bothered to no end by the fact that my younger brother who is a naturally talented musician, doesnt apear to be interested in music, he just hasnt found that spark yet. I cant imagine life without that place that a really great piece of music can take you.

Of course, Lizzy, you are one of the exceptions in the “young generation” that I mentioned (man, I sound like an old dude yelling at kids to “Get off my lawn!”)…
There are a lot of good bands that have formed in recent years, and there is definitely talent out there. But, I just don’t see “iconic” bands (as you put it)… Without thinking too deeply on it, Nirvana is, in my opinion, the last iconic band to hit the scene.
Or, is it just that we don’t realize how iconic, or groundbreaking, a band is until a decade or more after they become popular. Hell, maybe Justin Timberlake is iconic and we just don’t realize it yet.

somehow i really doubt the whole justin timberlake thing will work out…lol…maybe thats just me…i dunno
